Nowadays, more and more parents are giving christian names to their babies. It's like, practically all babies born are given chirsitan names. Even those who originally do not have christian names in their birth cert, they give christian names to themselves too.
Ok, maybe to some, having a christian name might be good for them 'cause their chinese names are hard to pronounce. But some give names to themselves just 'cause they don't like the names their parents give them. So it's fine not to like the name, but some are not even grateful that their parents gave them their name.
In the past, almost all parents would give their children meaningful names.
For example my name. I found out that my name actually means 'good and auspicious'(thanks to someone who found my name in a book at the library).
I admit when i was younger, i hated my name 'cause i don't think it was good, and i was jealous that others have christian names but i don't. But now, i'm rather proud of my name!
The one word to describe my name - unique. You don't hear someone with the same name as me very often, right...
But many people are thinking of giving me christian names now. Even my teacher is thinking so too!! Actually...come to think of it, there are only one other person besides me who doesn't have a christian name in my class, so that makes 2 people without christian name out of a class of 34!
I've got suggestions like: Peter, Pete, Parker, Parkour, Sean, Benson, and Christopher. These names are just from my friends.
Now waiting for my teacher to give me one more name, which i think most probably will be the name for me.
