Well, today was the supposedly farewell dinner. Or should i say "The First and Last Dinner".
Mr Hara (and his wife and assistants), the artist whom we help and made the event a success, decided to treat us all to dinner before going back to his homeland. We gathered at a place that's rather far from meeting place, so we ended up being late (and i don't like being late).
One thing i like about Japanese (besides the pretty and cute gals), is their punctuality. Once they say a time, they'll most probably be there on the dot, or may even be earlier than that. That is one quality most Singaporeans don't have...or at least most of the people i know don't observe punctuality. Anyway, going back...
After we arrived, we all went in search of a place to eat - going back by the way we came to the meeting place. Well, ok, it's exercise.
I never did know that Clark Quay has so many food stalls in the small alleys. Maybe because it's the 1st time i was there...
Actually we only walked through one alley. Anyway, that alley was pretty long, "Y"-shape somemore! We walked down the alley to see what great food they have to offer. But we ended up settling down at the 1st food shop at the head of the alley, where we started from.
Did i mention that Mr Hara was late? He was, but it didn't destroy the good image of punctuality of the Japs in me. He had his good work-related reason. Well, he and his wife and assistant-cum-translator came and sat down with us. Sticker Boy and a junior went to order the food. I thought they would be ordering a proper meal, the food came but not the rice. But i couldn't care less anyway, at least there's food.
I thought the orders were rather...
rojak. Fishballs, otahs, roti john, and satay. Doesn't sound a lot huh? Orders came and we began eating. Chat and eat, eat and chat... The dinner hosts started to ask all of us about our romance thingys. Halfway through the "Q&A", i realised that we were the loudest group in the
kopitiam. We were just joking and laughing throughout. I was actually thinking that the other people see us as foreigners... We did laugh so loud, like nobody's business.
I think it took the 12 of us more than an hour, maybe even 2 hours, to eat out fill. We still couldn't finish all of it, and the food (all of it) look like it can't even fill the stomach of 8 people.
We parted our ways at about 8.30pm. And i think it really took us 2 hours to finish our dinner.
We had a gift for them, and they had a gift for each and everyone of us. Before we parted, we all stood in a line and did a Jap-style bow to them. That was the nicest gesture we did to them until now.
It's sad that our cooperation had to end here. I had wished to learn more from them. Well, everything that has a beginning, has an end. We had a great time working for them...no, working
with them.
I'll remember, always!~
